Principal's Message

March Principal's Newsletter - Please CLICK here Dear Utsalady Families,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year.  As your new principal I am excited to share a bit about myself and welcome you to the new school year.  This is my 25th year in education and I love the work we do in schools. I started in the Bellevue School District, also taught at a private school, and for the last 17 years I was in the Edmonds School District.  The roles changed from classroom teacher grades K-6, instructional coach for teachers, administrative intern at the middle school and two years as Assistant Principal. In all of those roles, it has been a privilege to partner with families and the community for the success of our students.

The Utsalady staff is dedicated to meeting the needs of every student.  Our teachers use standards and curriculum materials to provide rich, highly engaging academic experiences.  This year we are implementing the newly adopted science curriculum Amplify Science. Every person on our staff is committed to providing a safe learning environment with an emphasis on social emotional learning. We use a number of proactive lessons to promote kindness, respect, no bullying, and leadership, just to name a few.

Being new, this is a year of listening and learning.  Together we will design the vision for our future at UES.  I am very grateful for the opportunity. I look forward to meeting all of you.  I look forward to meeting everyone and having an outstanding school year.

Thank you,

Julie Echols
